Shri S C Garg is serving as Chief General Manager (Tech.) & HoD in REC with expertise in energy auditing and over 35 years of rich experience in the power sector. He has handled various aspects of power generation, transmission, and distribution, including rural electrification through on-grid and off-grid solar systems. He has worked in thermal, hydro, and gas turbine power stations, as well as solar/renewable/energy efficiency projects. Shri Garg has also been involved in commercial issues, power purchase agreements, and handling tribunal cases related to tariffs and cost data sheets.
Shri Garg has worked as Addl. CEO of RECPDCL and has significantly expanded the company's performances.Shri Garg's achievements include providing project management consultancy (PMC) services to rural electrification projects worth more than Rs. 1 Lakh crore under various government schemesand turning RECPDCL from a quality assurance (QA) service provider to a project implementation company. He has also successfully executed IT-based projects, distribution networkingand completed the prestigious Rastrapati Bhawan rooftop grid-connected solar project.
Shri Garg has been a pioneer in establishing GPS-based surveys for rural electrification. He has developed and established the "GARV" mobile app for monitoring electrification activities in un-electrified villages, which has received applause from the Hon'ble Prime Minister at national and international platforms.Currently looking after Implementation of Advance Metering Infrastructure Projects.
Shri Garg has been recognized for his exemplary leadership and initiatives, receiving the Gold Award and certificate of appreciation from the Hon'ble Minister of State (Independent Charge), Ministry of Power, New and Renewable Energy, for completing rural electrification in Arunachal Pradesh within the challenging timeline of 1000 days.
In his previous roles in Damodar Valley Corporation, Shri Garg has held various positions and has been involved in the erection, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of various electrical equipment in hydro, thermal, and gas turbine power plants. Shri Garg's extensive experience and accomplishments in the power sector demonstrate his technical and managerial capabilities and result-oriented leadership.
